About Omega
Founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds and now headquartered in Biel/Bienne, Omega is one of the few Swiss houses that competes with Rolex on volume, distribution, and brand recognition. The Speedmaster Professional became the first watch worn on the Moon in 1969 — a credential no other manufacturer can replicate — and the brand has been the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games more times than any competitor.
The current lineup is organized around four pillars. The Speedmaster covers manual-wind chronographs, anchored by the Moonwatch reference. The Seamaster spans dive watches (Seamaster Diver 300M, Planet Ocean) and the everyday Aqua Terra. The Constellation is the brand's polished dress-sport hybrid, and the De Ville covers traditional dress watches.
Most modern Omega calibers use the Co-Axial escapement, an alternative to the standard Swiss lever pioneered by George Daniels and developed in-house. Master Chronometer certification adds magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss and ±0 to +5 seconds per day accuracy. Pricing typically runs $3,500 to $15,000, making Omega a direct cross-shop with mid-tier Rolex sport references.
